This past week, 98 Hawaiian Grill had the incredible honor of visiting the Minnesota Vikings training camp as part of the “Taste of the Cities” promotion. It was an unforgettable experience filled with food, fun, and football! We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring the flavors of aloha to the Vikings community and share in the excitement of the upcoming season.
Esera, the heart and soul behind 98 Hawaiian Grill, was particularly excited about this special day. Stepping onto the training camp field brought back a rush of nostalgia for him. As a former NFL player, Esera knows firsthand the energy and anticipation that training camp brings. It’s a time when players and fans alike gear up for what’s ahead, and being a part of that energy again was a full-circle moment for him.
For those who don’t know, here’s a fun fact: back in Esera’s rookie year with the Green Bay Packers, he bunked with none other than NFL legend Brett Favre! The two formed a bond during that time, and to this day, they remain friends. It’s these kinds of moments that make football—and the connections it fosters—so special.
But let’s talk about the real star of the day: the food! 98 Hawaiian Grill rolled up to camp with some serious flavor, serving up house favorites that had everyone coming back for seconds. The crowd favorite? Poke on a stick! This fun and flavorful twist on a Hawaiian classic was the talk of the event, giving Vikings fans a chance to experience the fresh, vibrant tastes of the islands. From the first bite, it was clear that aloha had officially made its way to Minnesota.
We want to extend a massive mahalo to the Minnesota Vikings for welcoming us with open arms. It was such a privilege to be part of the “Taste of the Cities” promotion and to share the spirit of Hawaii with your incredible fans. The aloha spirit is all about connection, and it was amazing to see how food could bring everyone together—players, families, and fans alike.
Here’s to an amazing football season ahead! Wherever this journey takes the Vikings, we’ll be cheering you on—and maybe even sneaking in a plate of poke to celebrate. Aloha and mahalo, Minnesota! 🏈🌺
