Born in Hawaii and of Samoan descent, Esera grew up surrounded by the rich culinary traditions of the islands, where fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and the spirit of aloha were a way of life.

A Storied NFL Career
Before stepping into the culinary world, Esera made his mark on the football field as a defensive tackle in the NFL, playing for teams such as the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Atlanta Falcons. Over nearly a decade in the league, he competed at the highest level, even playing in Super Bowl XXXIII. His dedication, hard work, and team spirit on the field are the same values he now brings to his restaurant.

- In his 9-year career he recorded 200 tackles, 12 sacks, and 1 interception

After coming out as one of the first openly gay former NFL players, Esera has dedicated his life to creating safe spaces and conversations that break down barriers and fight discrimination.
Through Hate Is Wrong, he speaks at schools, corporations, and sports organizations across the country, using his personal journey to inspire others and encourage a world where hate is truly wrong and everyone belongs.
